I - Historique
de l’aventure de LIONEL CORPORATION TINPLATE :
Début de l’aventure
C’est en janvier 2009 que MTH (Mike’s Train House)
Electric Trains et LIONEL Electric Trains (Lionel, LLC) ont signé un accord de
licence d’une durée de 10 ans permettant à MTH de produire, sous l’appellation LIONEL CORPORATION TINPLATE, toute une
gamme de produits LIONEL en tôle (locomotive, matériel roulant, accessoires)
aux écartements Standard et 0, portant chacun la signalétique classique de la
marque LIONEL. Ces matériels sont des reproductions de trains et accessoires
commercialisés par LIONEL entre 1900 et 1942 (ils comprennent aussi des trains
AMERICAN FLYER acquis en 1967 par LIONEL).

Suite et fin de l’aventure
En septembre 2018, MTH Electric Trains a annoncé qu’il
ne prolongeait pas au-delà de 2019 sa collaboration avec LIONEL, les deux
entreprises n’ayant pas pu se mettre d’accord sur un nouvel accord de licence.
Dans son communiqué, MTH semble dire que les 10 années d’exécution du contrat
se sont bien passées tant pour MTH que pour les passionnés de trains-jouets.
